Setting Goals Moving Forward
Getting There….

When did inefficiency become the norm?

The scenery through the Adirondack mountains   was nothing less than magnificent….  I was on a 12 hour train ride from New York to Montreal.

Overseas, high speed, inexpensive, comfortable trains are commonplace.

Having another hour to kill while waiting for a south bound train to pass because there was only one set of tracks on a good portion of the route, I decided to ask the conductor a question.

Why can’t they upgrade the train system in the United States?

In China or europe a similar trip would be 3 1/2 hours long instead of the arduous 12 long hours.

His answer was. “Where’s the money supposed to come from”?

My answer: Jet Blue came from nowhere and was able to get the financing to build a huge airline in record time. Some thing or some entity is preventing the train system in our nation from competing with other forms of transportation fairly.

If trains were given a chance to compete in the free market system on equal footing with cars and air travel….
Financing it, would be the least problem.
